Application Reference: 12/02238/FULL
Proposal: Erection of wind turbine (45.5m to blade tip), equipment cabin, hard standing and formation of access road
Address: North Callange Farm, Callange Ceres Cupar Fife KY15 5TU
We objected to the application for the installation of a single wind turbine with a blade tip height of 45.5 metres on the site proposed on North Callange Farm because of the significant adverse impact on landscape character and visual amenity.
The site chosen was in a very prominent location on high ground to the north of Anstruther Road between Ceres and Baldinnie. Although on lower ground than the unsuccessful Bruntshiels application the turbine was much higher and again Baldinnie residents would have been overlooked by the development.
We wrote to the council as we felt the dismissal of the appeal at Bruntshiles had a direct bearing on the consideration of the above application at North Callange and the Scottish Government Reporter’s planning logic should have been applied in recommending it for refusal confident that any appeal would be dismissed.
We supported the many local people in Baldinnie and elsewhere who objected to the proposal.
The application was recommended for conditional approval but refused by the North East Fife Area Committee.
The applicant appealed this decision to Scottish Ministers and a reporter was appointed to determine the appeal.
The reporter dismissed the appeal and refused planning permission.
